Workin’

After you’ve been working for a long time, really working hard to understand things in drawing like the figure or space and perspective there seems to suddenly become a moment where what you are putting on paper is FINALLY starting to look like what’s in your head–this week I am starting to feel like that and its AWESOME!

This week I’ve been working on a rough for a poster contest for Archaeology Month in California–this is my idea so far about disciplines working together in Archaeology.  This time I was really struggling to come up with an engaging composition and correct perspective when I went to enlarge my thumbnail.  This time I attempted the trick my professors have been urging us all to use and blew up my thumbnail to the size I wanted the final to be and used a sheet of velum over it to refine the thumbnail I’d already sketched–it worked pretty well!  Finally, the image I have in my head is actually on the paper–as dynamic and well layout as the thumbnail–hurray!
